Circus of the EXTREME

Welcome to the Broadway Youth circus of the extreme,
the home of internet videos that made us sit up and rub our eyes.
Post some of your own, BUT KEEP IT CLEAN PEOPLE!

Let's begin with oriental people spinning pens aroudn their fingers like they've discovered the secret of anti gravity. Worth watching just for the sound track!

Next up, witness this man's incredible drum solo, without a drum in site. "This is Rock and roll" - he said it!

Another video worth checking out for the sound track alone.... watch Extreme Crew break dancing. Best in the world according to Mark Thomas (not the comedian).

and last but by no means least..... a lot of babies being sick. You would not believe the amount of sick one of those thigns can produce!

Let's test the DS wifi connection.... by jumping out of a plane

Well you would wouldn't you!

oooooooh, aaaaaaaah

It's Novemeber. Already. Well, almost.
Which means one very important thing:
The Youth Alpha Fire Works trip!
Next Friday, 3rd November we'll be meeting at the back of the church at 7pm and walking to Chesham United Football Club together to watch things explode. We'll then walk back to church and play some games.

Pick up time will be 9.30pm at church as normal.
Family members and friends are welcome either to join us or meet us at the football club.
Tickets are £3 for children and £5 for adults.

Stroof, Friday was a long night!

It finally happened! On Friday night / Saturday morning we had our All-nighter. The aim of the event was to stay up all night (of course) to celebrate 300 years of God's goodness to our church by spending 300 minutes on activities dedicated to Him. A minute for every year, incase you hadn't figured that out.

The activites included dedicating our minds to God through a quiz, dedicating our bodies to God by getting a dance routine together, using our voices in a midnight praise session and the Sing Star showdown and using our acting skills as well.

Here's a few memories from the event.

We kicked off with the now infamous 'animal game' that was made legendary by Frank's monkey impressions ("silky marmite"). This short activity produced more in-jokes then I could ever do justice to here. "Creepy Creepy. Creepy Creepy". etc.

This is Trinity Baptist Church who kindly lent us their building, because our own church was full with our 300th anniversary exhibition.

Thank you Colin, Tim and everybody at Trinity who made this possible!

Everybody brought along a DVD and we democratically voted to watch Jonny English (worst film title in British cinema history says-a-me!), so thanks to Sam for bringing that along. We put it on at about 1.30am, and Ian fell asleep in front of it, ahhh bless!

Our thanks to Lionel Ritchie for providing the theme song to our dance routine. This was one of Sarah's ideas and it was a lot of fun. Thank you Sarah! We stood around in a circle and made up a dance routine one step at a time. Video evidence of it's brilliance will soon be availible on request (to Youth Alpha and F.B.I. members only, natch)

See that picture? That's the bloke out of Keane that is. No doubt he's singing "Everybodies Changing", AGAIN! One of the high points of the night was seeing everybody compete to see who could get the most points on Sting Star Rocks. One of it's low points was sitting through "Everybodies Changing" three times.... mind you the first performance was a crowd pleaser. Sarah judged our various efforts, and I had a go at "Boys are Back in Town" by Thin Lizzy - but didn't do to well. Ah well. Calum and Matt R were both very good. Yay them!
The best part of the showdown was hoping that Ian would wake up from his Jonny English-induced slumber to find himself surrounded by strangers singing Queen songs and not know whether he was still dreaming. Saddly he took it all in his stride, it turns out he's quite hard to confuse.

At midnight Simon D and Park_2002 led the little crowd in some very atmospheric worship songs (thank you both for that).
"Thank you"s to Rueben for typing up the song words and Chrissy for operating the powerpoint.
That's Simon in the photo with his band The Park Race. If you liked what you heard on Saturday then click here to visit their web page or click here to go to see their myspace profile.! (Yeh) Hey is my personel favourite. Click here to read a review of it by Rueben.

Toast. There's nothng quite like it. We finished off the night by eating breakfast together, having a mass tidy up and chucking Calum's orange cushion about. Lovely. Then we all went home and slept.

Thank you Park_2002 for buying the food and Fliss for cooking it, doing the washing up, cleaning and generally getting on and doing stuff behind the scenes. Thanks also to Malcolm and Keith (yes Keith, ANOTHER thank you!) for your guidance and help. With out you two.....
And one more special thank you goes to local business Dwight Sounds who provided all our live PA solutions at a very competetive price.

Ta'rah.

How Lord of the Rings should have ended

I'm posting this little flash vid' especially for Iain, just incase he's looking.

F.B.I. this week

Because of the Broadway Expirience exhibition using the main building F.B.I. will a bit different tomorrow. We'll still meet at 3.30pm at Church, but we'll have a look around the exhibition till 4pm and then do our usual stuff in the back hall 'till 5pm. See you there.

Broadway Exhibition

If you've walked past the church this week you'll have noticed the MA-HOO-SIVE banner outside.
As part of the churches 300th anniversary celebrations we are running a free exhibition all week looking at the past, present and future of Broadway and our little home town of Le Chesh'!
It's free to get in and there's a good selection of stuff on display for people of all ages, including a great puppet video (all credit to Rueben) and a really cool garden space with a water fall.
The exhibition is called The Broadway experience and it runs all week till 4pm, an evening opening on Wednesday night (7-9pm) and a special opening on Saturday morning.

Tetris baby!

( Scroll down if your looking for news about Youth Alpha tonight or the All-nighter next week )
For the last week I've been living in 1991. That year anybody who was anybody got a Gameboy for Christmas and the UK rocked to the sound of Tetris. We had to, Bohemian Rhapsody was number 1 again, what choice did we have? Last Friday I got Tetris DS and my mind has been a mess of falling blocks since then. Even Park_2002 has been playing it by jingo!
All those memories of falling blocks have come flooding back, it's a beautiful thing. And it has a fun touch screen 'slidey' bonus game now too.

Here's a link to the IGN review.

And here's a person dressed as a really big L block:

And here's a really old Tetris advert from America, I like the bit with the boy dressed as a private I and his rotating head!

Tetris is so great, even buildings play it!

This video is a bit poor, but I like the rock version of the Tetris theme. Oh to see In Eternum incorporate it into their live set!

Tetris is so good, even lego plays it!

A lot of people don't realise that Elvis wrote the classic theme music. Check out this authentic documentary footage:

ALL NIGHT LONG!

"Hey everybody in Chesham, England! Lionel Richie here! You know, Christina's Daddy! Hang on, nah, that's not right! Nichole Richie's Daddy! That's it!

Have I got a really important announcement for you guys! Well yes, yes I do! And here it is!

I just love staying up all night, why I even wrote a hit song about it in the 80's! Crazy times! Did you see those little kids body popping in my video down there?! I'm telling ya, CRAZY TIMES!

And a crazy time is what you guys are gonna have at the Broadway Youth All-nighter next Friday! That's what I'm here to announce by the way! THE BROADWAY YOUTH ALL-NIGHTER ON FRIDAY 20TH OCT 2006!

To celebrate the 300th anniversary of Broadway Baptist Church over there in Chesham, England, you guys from school year 7 to 13 are gonna stay up ALL NIGHT LONG!
There's gonna be games, music, sports, drama, a quiz, a movie, a whole heap of fun!
Why you're gonna party,
Karamu, fiesta, forever
Well, not quite forever, actually it'll be 8.30pm to 9am at Trinity Baptist Church in Chesham, England!

I tell you kids, once you get started you can’t sit down,
Come join the fun, It’s a merry go round!

Although they will provide adequate seating and there won't actually be a merry go round!

There will be sleeping rooms provided, so if you do get tired you can catch up on your beauty sleep! But you'll need to bring your own sleeping bag and that kind of stuff!

You must have parental permission! No signed consent form - no entry - ALL NIGHT LONG!

I hope you have a great time! Because you guys are great, in fact your better then great, you're once, twice, three times really nice people, and I'm very fond of all of you!

Now I know it sounds funny, but I just can't stand the pain, this is the end of my announcement."

IMPORTANT NOTE: Obviously the real Lionel Richie had nothing to do with this. No really. So don't tell him!

explosive dream

i had a very weird dream last night, and i remember it quite well, i have nothing else to do so here goes

i had just been to buy diet coke + mentos, and we went to the school carpark to set them off, we went there, next to the car park was a row of class rooms with huge windows facing onto it, so we were waiting for there school to finish so we wouldnt get caught setting it off in there car park. in these class rooms every student faced the front so all we could see was the back of there heads. .Then one of my friends started shouting "get away, hide" really franticly, the next thing that happens is every single student turns around and looks me straight in the eye, the next thing im hiding behind a crate and the school explodes, but with no flames or anything, just all the rubble and stuff flying towards me. the next thing i remember im sitting in the rubble, dead, but i can still see, i get pulled out and get prounounced dead. then im standing ontop of a skyscraper with other skyscrapers all around in varying hights, i then start fighting batman, while flying and with tiny lightsabers.

and that was my twisted dream.

The Continentals

Do you like the songs from Disney movies?

Did you enjoy the BBC's "How do you solve a problem like Maria?" ?

Are you a fan of musical theatre?

Then you will probably get a big kick out of these guys:

They are The Continentals, a group of young America Christian singers.

If you're an Emo, Grunger, Metalist or a Goth then they aren't likely to be your slice of cheese.

(but check out Striper's myspace profile for a bit of rock cheddar - the seminal 80's Christian hair metal band who are incredibily still going!
Watch the vide on the site for some amazing hair spray abuse.)

If you answered 'yes' to any of the three questions above,
get yourself down to Broadway Baptist Church, Le Chesh, Bucks in good ol' England,
on Sunday morning (8th October) to catch their show "Reality Check".
10.30am - 12pm, free entry.

Click here to visit the Continentals website
there's audio, some video, a whole bunch of stuff in fact,
and don't miss the show tomorrow!

Nooma - Dust

If you missed TGIF at Chesham High on Frida,
or if you don't go to that school,
then you missed this ravour good video by Amecian bloke Rob Bell.
Check out the bit about "walking in the dust of your rabbi"
- it's interesting stuff!
The video is from the Nooma DVD series, watch out for the link to their website which will over there on the right some time soon.
